Dated: Wednesday, 9 April 14
Subject: Regarding security cover provided to the Lok Sabha candidates.
Reference your letter 7641/S dated 01/04/2014 along with a copy of the “security norm of candidates of recognized parties” requesting me to accept the security cover.
Respected SSP Sahib,
At the very onset I would like to thank you for the warmth expressed by the policemen who have been in touch with me over the last few days over the phone.
As per the policy of the party, it is a waste of public exchequer to create artificial barriers between the people and their would be representatives. The national convener of our party Shri Arvind Kejriwal has been repeatedly physically manhandled and attacked but he has steadfastly refused to allow security cordon around him. In following his example and due to my own ethical reasons I humbly decline the security offered by your office.
I hope that people will stand guard not just to me but to their own future in this election campaign. It is the creation of a society based on justice and egalitarian ideals which is the best security that we must strive for.
I otherwise hope for your cooperation in the smooth conduct of these elections.
Thanking you with warm regards,
Bhai Baldeep Singh
Lok Sabha Candidate
