ਖਡੂਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਉੱਪ ਚੋਣ ਵਾਰੇ :

ਜਦੋਂ ਦਾ ਖਡੂਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੋਂ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੇ ਮੌਦੂਜਾ MLA ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਗਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਬੇਅਦਬੀ ਦੇ ਰੋਸ ਵੱਝੋਂ ਇਸਤੀਫਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਉੱਪ-ਚੋਣ ਲੜਨ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। 2014 ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੈਂ ਖਡੂਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਹਲਕੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਤੌਰ ਆਪ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਚੋਣ ਲੜੀ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਕੁੱਝ ਅੰਦਰੂਨੀ ਕਾਰਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਾਲੀ, ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀਆਂ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਚੋਣ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਲਈ ਵਰਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹੱਥਕੰਡਿਆਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਲੋਕਸਭਾ ਚੋਣ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਖਡੂਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਧਾਨਸਭਾ ਹਲਕੇ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰਲਮਾ-ਮਿਲਵਾਂ ਹੁੰਗਾਰਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਪਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਕਹਿਣ ਚ ਕੋਈ ਝਿਜਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਉੱਪ-ਚੋਣ ਲੜਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਪਰ ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਤਿਕੋਣਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਜਰੂਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਖੁਦ ਚੋਣ ਨਾ ਲੜ ਕੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਕਿਓਂ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਗਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬੇਅਦਬੀ ਦੇ ਰੋਸ ਵੱਝੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਇਸਤੀਫਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਦੂਜਾ ਪੱਖ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਸੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ MLA ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਸਲੇ ਤੇ ਨਾ-ਕਾਮੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਸਤੀਫਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਓਹ ਫਿਰ ਇਹ ਚੋਣ ਲੜਨ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਓਹ ਚੋਣ ਜਿੱਤ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਓਹ ਫਿਰ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦਾ MLA ਬਣ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਓਹ ਇਸਤੀਫਾ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਸੀ, ਫਿਰ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਫਰਕ ਕੀ ਪਿਆ, ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਖਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਤੇ ਚੋਣ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਬੋਝ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਂ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿੰਨਾ।

ਫਿਰ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਚੋਣ ਨਾ ਲੜਨ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

2017 ਦੇ ਮਹਾਂ-ਸੰਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਇਹ ਉੱਪ ਚੋਣ ਇੱਕ ਸਹੀ ਮੌਕਾ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਸਾਬਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕਿ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਲਾਇਕੀਆਂ ਕਾਰਣ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਲੀਹ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਦੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਖੁੱਦ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਬਾਹਰਲੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਰ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ, ਬਸ਼ਰਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਹਮਦਰਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮ ਤੇ ਇੱਕਠੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਉੱਪ-ਚੋਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਦੇਣ।

ਸੋ, ਬਤੌਰ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਚੋਣ ਲੜਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸੁਝਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਸ਼ਵਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਖਤ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ।

Ever since the sitting Congress MLA from Khadoor Sahib area resigned in protest, I have been flooded with suggestions and requests to consider standing in the elections from this Punjab State Assembly constituency. This assembly seat being one of the nine Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha Constituency’s assembly seats from where I fought the Lok Sabha elections last year.

Because of very poor infrastructure on ground on ground (and quality of volunteers), some of them were there (representing rival factions) with a mandate to disrupt progress and to eavesdrop, complimented with the ability of the Akali Dal and Congress workers to rig the election process from their respective strongholds, my election campaign drew mixed results from the Khadoor Sahib assembly segment. Having said that, I have no hesitation in admitting the fact that if I were to stand from this assembly, my election campaign will stand a massive chance of putting up a respectable fight, if not win it outright with a surprisingly fine a margin.

The reason I had shelved the idea of fighting (from this assembly seat when the thought first came) was for I wondered if it would be better to support the campaign of the Congress MLA who had resigned to protest the desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib’s Bir. But then, the question that stands out and counters that particular notion (sympathy wave, etc.) is that if this particular MLA resigned from the assembly due to the inabilities of the current government in apprehending the culprits and the horrific cover up that ensued, then why must he fight the election again when upon a victory he will be exactly where he was before he resigned? The same assembly seat; the same erring Punjab Administration; the Congress MLA would have only cost the Punjab exchequer unnecessary trouble by wasting time, money and invaluable resources!

AAP, on the other hand, has predictably decided to not to fight the Khadoor Sahib Assembly By-election.

2016 Comes Before 2017 Indeed!
The visibility that 2016 can bring (if I were to contest as an independent) with all of Punjabi sympathizers converging —for saying all that needs to be said; for ensuring that the paradigm of politics in Punjab can actually change for ever; that Punjab does not need to import any political intelligence —neither the Gujarat model nor the Delhi model – that Punjab must attempt to recover itself and its institutions from the abyss it has been so carelessly left to rot; is Now!

For volunteers and campaigners from across Punjab, and beyond, can all converge and the fact that one of most exciting electoral campaigns can actually be mounted makes it all an exciting opportunity!
